Tonganoxie, McLouth grads among college recipients of Kansas Masons scholarships
The Kansas Masonic Foundation has awarded more than 200 scholarships statewide, including some from Leavenworth County.
More than $220,000 was awarded to 212 scholarship recipients, according to a release Monday.
College students from Tonganoxie, McLouth and Leavenworth are in that list.
All scholarships awarded, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 per student, are given to graduating high school seniors and students already attending four-year or two-year universities, including junior, vocational and technical colleges throughout the state. Over the more than 50 years of its existence, the Kansas Masonic Foundation, in collaboration with the Grand Lodge of Kansas and its 170 statewide lodges and respective Masons, has provided millions of dollars of funding to students.
“It is with great pride that we, as Masons, are able to provide this type of financial support to our future leaders,” said Lincoln L. Wilson Jr., President of the Kansas Masonic Foundation. “Our commitment to the scholarship program, and to the numerous other programs that benefit Kansans and Kansas communities through the Foundation and the Masonic Lodges throughout the state, is at the core of our beliefs that charity beyond ourselves strengthens our community.”
This year’s scholarships were awarded to Kansas residents based on financial needs and offered in three categories: General Scholarships, Legacy Scholarships and Cynthia Ruth Russell Scholarships.
