Fourth Street is ready for the St. Patrick's Parade in this photo from 2018. The St. Patrick's Parade will return March 13 to downtown Tonganoxie. This year's parade will start at 11 a.m.

Don your green and head to downtown Tonganoxie this Saturday.

The 36th annual St. Patrick’s Parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fourth Street.

The parade will start at Main and Fourth Street and head west along Fourth Street to Shawnee Street where the parade will end near Tonganoxie Public Library.

Those planning to enter the parade are encouraged to register in advance by emailing whitebirchkc@gmail.com.

Amanda Starcher, one of the organizers of the parade for Tonganoxie Business Association, said Tuesday that more than 10 floats or entries have already registered. Folks wanting to enter the event also can contact Starcher at 913-416-3697 or Joanna Eibes at 913-915-0451.

Participation in the parade is free. Registration is not required in advance, but those planning to enter the parade will need to fill out parade forms before the parade. Entrants should arrive near Fourth and Main streets at 10:30 a.m. so that organizers can get participants lined up and collect forms.

TBA announced at its annual awards night recently that Charlie “Tuna” Conrad would be this year’s Grand Leprechaun.

Awards will be given out for Best Overall, Best Family, Best Club and Best Custom Car entries.

Once again Chapter AT-PEO will have corned beef and cabbage, as well as Irish stew meals on that day.

Food will be served 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for dine-in or carry out at Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, 328 E. Fourth St.

Cost is $12 for adults and anyone 13 or older and $5 for children ages 5-12. The meal also includes dessert.

Proceeds from the meal benefit local scholarship funds and educational opportunities for women at the state and national levels.

Weather for Saturday’s parade should be fairly favorable.

Weather.com is expecting a high in the mid-60s Saturday with a small chance for rain. It also could be borderline breezy with northwest winds up to 14 mph.

If weather permits, The Mirror also plans to livestream the parade again this year.
