Tonganoxie school board approves Trane service agreement

New rooftop units at Tonganoxie Middle School will come with a 10-year warranty for more than $73,800.

The Tonganoxie school board approved the measure, 6-0, at its regular meeting Monday. Board Member Chris Gratton was absent.

In total, the extended warranty covers parts, labor and refrigerant for the first five years for the 14 new rooftop units. For years 6-10, the warranty will cover major parts of compressors and heat exchangers.

Board OKs personnel recommendations

Tonganoxie USD 464 school board members approved personnel recommendations

Contract/work agreements were approved for Kelly Berry, Tonganoxie Elementary School special education teacher; Reagan Beach and Jodie Brice, TES kindergarten teachers; Adrian Monge Uribe, TES lunch monitor/aide; Kristen Johnson, TES special education paraprofessional; and Adam Ludwin, Tonganoxie High School interrelated special education teacher and THS assistant volleyball coach.

Resignations were accepted from Shanna McLean, Tonganoxie Middle School special education paraprofessional; Alexis Pierce and Samantha Parr, TES kindergarten teacher; Julia Westrich Monarrez, TES English for speakers of other languages aide; Steve Harrell, THS theater sponsor; Charla Stephens, TES paraprofessional; Jessica Switzer, THS custodian; Kyla Dominic, THS biology teacher; and Katarina McGill, THS interrelated teacher.

Retiring is Donna Mages, THS in-school suspension supervisor.

Transfers also were approved for Tiffani Ramirez, TES student nutrition to TMS special education paraprofessional; and Julie Crowley, switching to Basehor contract.

Fee schedule approved, mostly unchanged

Fees for 2025-26 were approved, 6-0, at Monday’s meeting.

The fees will remain mostly unchanged, according to Assistant Superintendent Tonya Phillips. She said the only thing that changed from 2024-25 is an adult lunch. It will be going up $.50, from $4.50 to $5.

Board approves projectors at TMS

Tonganoxie Middle School will be getting 41 new laser projectors for classrooms for just more than $35,500.

Members approved the purchase, 6-0. Forrest Creager, USD 464 technology director, said the Epson Powerlite L210W projectors were $866 per projector and have three-year warranties. The equipment will replace projectors that are 10 years old. The purchase is part of a regular schedule for device replacement and has been budgeted for the current school year.

Donations announced

Donations since the last Tonganoxie USD school board meeting were listed in the agenda packet.

Donations: Himpel Hardware, a Grill2Go portable grill ($195 value) for the FFA Alumni SxS Ride; First Security Bank, $250 for the FFA Alumni SxS Ride; Community National Bank, $500 for the FFA Alumni SxS Ride; Capital Electric Construction, FFA Alumni SxS Ride, $500; and Color Art Palette, Inc., $500 for FFA Alumni SxS Ride.
