Tonganoxie Middle School stages ‘Dororthy in Wonderland’

Tonganoxie Middle School staged three performances of “Dorothy in Wonderland, a story by Brian D. Taylor freely adapted from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass.”
Students had performances Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon at the Tonganoxie Performing Arts Center on the high school campus.
Wizard of Oz cast were Sofia Eastburn as Dorothy, Charleigh Avery as Toto, Lennon Herrigx as Scarecrow, Sophia Heithaus as Lion, Zaccaeus Reeder as Tin Man, Tinley Shriner as Wizard and Raygan Thomas as Glinda.
Alice in Wonderland cast were Ammelia Wright, Natalie Rogers as White Rabbit, Brooke Price as Rose, Peighton Erwin as Tiger Lily, Destinee Barto as Tulip and Shelby Crum as Caterpillar.
Rosemary Ottens took on the role of Humpty Dumpty, while Sarah Meyer was the Mad Hatter and Calista Scarborough the March Hare.
Lillian Tinburg took on the role of the Queen of Hearts.
Here’s a listing of other Alice in Wonderland characters: Nevaeh Shriner as Knave of Hearts, Brayden Garner as King of Hearts, Lydia Bartlett as White Pawn, Brooke Price as White Rook, Tinley Shriner as White Knight, River Brumley as Black Pawn, Adalynn Taves as Black Rook, Layla McGraw as Black Knight, Aaron Deason as Tweedle Dum, Charleigh Avery as Tweedle Dee, Layla McGraw as Cheshire Cat 1, Peighton Erwin as Cheshire Cat 2, Brooke Price as Cheshire Cat 3, Destinee Barto as Five, Aaron Season as Seven, Kaeyln Baldridge as Dormouse, Lydia Bartlett as Frog Footman and Landon Frink as Fish Footman.
The play ran about 90 minutes and was broken down into 13 scenes.
TMS teacher Debbie Holloway again served as stage director, while Cassandra Hermosillo and Gabriel Pease were stage managers.
TMS and THS vocal music instructor Tom Gifford serves as sound and lights director, with Holland Regier and Ariel Gonzales taking care of sound and Annabelle Cokely and Eden Hodges handling lights.
Cassie Donahey, TMS art instructor, served as props and scenery director.
James Barnett assisted with scenery, while Joseph Dean handled scenery and backdrop. Scenery and running crew were Reed Lally, Madeline Pavlovich, Abigail Winsor, Amalie Boone and Javan Smith.
