School officials moved the event at Beatty Field inside to Chieftain Arena as precaution during inclement weather in the area.

The change in venue didn’t deter the community from gatheringt to celebrate a new school year, though. The party moved inside and hot dogs, cookies and more still were served and teams and organizations were recognized.

As has been tradition with the Tongie Tailgate, the stuudents of the month for the previous year at Tonganoxie Elementary School are recognized as part of the festivities.
