Tonganoxie USD 464 school board approves HVAC project max price for TES

Members approved the project not to exceed $5.987 million. The project will take place in the summer.
Board OKs personnel
Personnel recommendations were approved by board members.
Contract/work agreements were approved for Robert Martinez, transportation; and Kala Willis, transportation paraprofessional.
Resignations on the recommendation list were Tanner Willis, Tonganoxie Elementary School fourth-grade teacher; Brandy Taylor, director of SIS; Calesta Blazo, TES principal; Nicole Martin, Tonganoxie Elementary School aide; and Kimberly King, TES special education paraprofessional.
Termination was approved for Suzanne Hartford, TES special education paraprofessional.
Superintendent’s administrative leave extended
The school board voted to extend the administrative leave with pay of Superintendent Loren Feldkamp until further notice.
Board members made the decision to place Feldkamp on administrative leave with pay through Monday during a special meeting Jan. 30.
The board voted to extend the administrative leave at Monday’s regular meeting after executive session. Feldkamp is set to retire at the end of June.
Board meets in executive session for nearly hour
Board members met in executive session for 55 minutes Monday.
For the first 15 minutes, members met to discuss non elected personnel. After the session, board members voted to extend contracts for all building administrators and Assistant Superintendent Tonya Phillips.
The board then met for a total of 40 minutes with Phillips to discuss nonelected personnel and with Kansas Association of School Boards counsel remotely.
Special school board meeting tonight
Tonganoxie USD 464 will have another special school board meeting.
The board will meet at 8:15 p.m. today at the Administrative Center for an executive session.
Board policy updates tabled
The board tabled one item on Monday’s agenda: approval of KASB December board policy updates.
Proclamation approved
March will be Youth Art Month in the Tonganoxie school district.
Board President Justin Sturgeon introduced the proclamation during Monday’s regular meeting and the school board approved it unanimously.
2026-27 school calendar approved
The 2026-27 school calendar for Tonganoxie USD 464 was approved at Monday’s meeting.
