The board approved the hiring of Shawn Poyser at a special meeting Wednesday at the USD 464 Administrative Center.

Poyser currently is superintendent at the Warsaw School District in Warsaw, Missouri. He’s served as superintendent there since 2016. He will start in July in Tonganoxie and will replace Loren Feldkamp, who announced last year that he would be retiring in June.

Board members met with finalists in executive session during special meetings this past Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The district plans to introduce Poyser in between the Tonganoxie boys and girls basketball games during tonight’s Tonganoxie Invitational Tournament The girls game is at 6 p.m. and the boys game follows, likely around 7:30 p.m.
