Next candidate forum today in Leavenworth; advance satellite voting announced

Leavenworth County election.

The Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a primary candidate forum at 6 p.m. today at the Leavenworth Public Library, 417 Spruce St.

The forum will focus on three races for Leavenworth County Commission: Janet Klasinski, Lynn Looney and Robert Owens in Distict 1, Sara George and Tony McNeill in District 2 and Tim Kates, Cody Reynolds and David Todd in District 3.

Primaries are Aug. 4. Polls are open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. that day, with advance voting options also avaiable.

A candidate forum also took place Saturday at Tonganoxie VFW Hall for Leavenworth County Commission, District 5 and Kansas House, Districts 38 and 42.

Today also is the first day of advance voting. Advance ballots by mail will be mailed starting today, and advance voting at the Leavenworth County Courthouse also begins today and will be offered 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday until July 31.

Voters also can vote in advance from 8 a.m.-noon in person Agu. 3 at the courthouse.

Satellite advance voting will be offered twice, including once in Tonganoxie.

Satellite voting will be offered 8 a.m.-2 p.m. July 25 at the Leavenworth County Annex in Tonganoxie and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Lansing Fire Station.
