Inmate caught with meth in pasture on prison grounds sentenced to more than 10 years
An inmate caught with meth in a cow pasture on prison grounds has been sentenced to 123 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Christopher Redgate, 39, was convicted of unlawful distribution of methamphetamine on June 28 after pleading no contest during a plea hearing. On Aug. 9, Redgate was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison, to be served consecutively to his sentence in Sedgwick County, according to a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson.
According to court documents, Redgate, who was an inmate at the time, was apprehended in a cow pasture on the grounds of the Lansing Correctional Facility property on April 20, 2022. Redgate had methamphetamine in his possession at the time.
“This case provides a glimpse of one of the challenges law enforcement faces when keeping illegal substances outside the walls of our prisons,” Thompson said. My thanks to the staff at Lansing Correctional for all they do to help maintain the safety of staff and inmates inside the facility.”
