Tonganoxie in extended severe thunderstorm warning; McLouth in flash flood warning
Tonganoxie is in a severe thunderstorm warning that is set to end at 4 p.m. Friday.
In addition to Leavenworth County, western Wyandotte and Johnson counties are in the warning that has been extended until 4 p.m. It originally was in effect until 3 p.m. and then 3:15 p.m.
Wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail are expected with this storm.
McLouth is in a flash flood warning until 8 p.m. in Jefferson County.
Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, according to the National Weather Service. The expected rainfall rate is 1-2 inches in one hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
