Obituary: Robert Pritchard

De Soto -- Private graveside services for Robert E. Pritchard, 85, Linwood, are planned. Burial will be in De Soto.

Mr. Pritchard died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 17, 1921, on a farm northwest of Linwood, the son of James R. and Blanch Henak Pritchard. He grew up in the Fall Leaf community and graduated from Eudora High School in 1939.

Mr. Pritchard worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in Johnson County and was a World War II veteran. He also worked for General Motors in the Fairfax District before retiring in 1983.

Mr. Pritchard served on the Linwood City Council and as mayor. He also volunteered for several community groups and events.

He married Arlene Plummer on Nov. 24, 1951, in Rogers, Ark. She survives, of the home.

The family suggests memorials to the Linwood Community Library, sent in care of Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto 66018.
