John and Cara Kruid of Springdale are the proud parents of a baby boy, John Marcus, born Aug. 24 at 3:20 a.m. at Providence Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. His 4-year-old sister, Loralai, welcomed him home. Maternal grandparents are Dane and Brenda Offutt, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Randy and Cheryl Kruid of Lincoln, Neb.

Anabel Knapp was visiting Gene and Marie Hill on Friday evening, Sept. 5.

Anabel Knapp was visiting John and Cara Kruid on Sunday, Sept. 7 to see their new baby, John Marcus.

Ed and Peggy Gillaspie went to Branson, Mo., for the Southern Gospel Fest. They returned home Sunday evening, Sept. 7.

Pastor Bill Gritton of Springdale Friends was attending a conference in Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 7. His wife, Audrea, filled the pulpit. Her mother, Ruth, from Illinois was visiting and they sang a lovely duet for the worship service.

Jeff Gillaspie was celebrating his 34th birthday and Luke Cole his 11th on Sept. 10. They are cousins.

The students of Pleasant Ridge Schools were out of school on Monday, Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Sept. 9 because of a water break in the district. Needless to say, the students were enjoying it.

Wayne and Anabel Knapp attended the 64th annual membership dinner and meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the McLouth School. A lovely meal was served and a large crowd attended.

Ralph and Linda Haley traveled to Branson, Mo., for a few days vacation.
