GRADUATION 2024: McLouth to send off nearly 40 Saturday

McLouth High School has three co-valedictorians in this year’s graduating class. All three will speak during Saturday’s commencement exercises, which will start at 10 a.m. at the Gold Gymnasium on the MHS campus. Pictured, from left, are Holly Hariman, Lacie Gallagher and Ash David.

McLouth High School will graduate 37 seniors Saturday during commencement exercises at the MHS Gold Gymnasium.

This year’s class motto is “Our lives are before us, our pasts are behind us, our memories are forever within us.”

Class colors are lavender and white and the class flower is the lily.

The MHS band will play “Graduation Suite” for the processional at the start of the ceremony.

MHS principal JD Nelson will give opening remarks and senior class president Holly Harriman will offer the welcome.

Co-valedictorians Ash David, Lacie Gallagher and Holly Harriman will be honored and offer remarks before Nelson recognizes honor students.

Select staff and others will present scholarships.

Nelson will present the Bank of McLouth, Jim and Jane Campbell Education, Cather Pearson Education, Pete Edmonds Memorial, Stan and Fern Braksisck, Bethel Graham Cook, Nelle L. Wellman and McLouth Recreation Commission scholarships.

A chamber member will present the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce scholarship, while Annamaria Rainey will present the George M. Bogard, Chase Coffin, Michelle Harsh and John McPherson memorial scholarships, as well as the Linda C. Sullivan Nursing Scholarships and the McLouth Kiwanis Scholarship.

The Ward family will present the Ricky McDowell Music Scholarship, while the Mance family will present the Corbin Mance Memorial Scholarship and Leanne Hoobler the Justin Johnston Memorial Scholarship.

USD 342 Superintendent Jerome Johnson will present the class for graduation and then Board of Education members will present the diplomas. Nelson will present the graduating class.

The MHS band will play the school alma mater and “Graduation Suite” for the recessional.

National Honor Society members will wear white stoles, while student council members will wear red, white and blue cords.

McLouth High seniors in the Top 10% of the class will wear gold cords, while FFA members will wear blue and gold cords. Red and white cords will be worn for Cherokee Nation.

Graduation escorts this year are Cresinda Bandel, Judd Holwick, Jerrick Chenhall and Dani Lee.

The graduates also will have a Senior Safe after-grad party this weekend. Baccalaureate services were Sunday at McLouth Baptist Church.
