Vandals strike several sites in city
Vandals apparently were busy in Tonganoxie Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Someone broke seven windows out of four duplexes on 12th Street, said Sgt. John Putthoff, investigator for the police department. A double glass door also was broken, and holes were poked through the sheet rock.
The second incident occurred at the Southwestern Bell station at Sixth and West streets, where a window was broken on a parked vehicle.
At the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, a window was broken on a piece of heavy equipment and dirt was put into the gasoline tank. Baseball equipment also was stolen from the Recreation Commission’s building at the fairgrounds.
The incidents were reported Tuesday morning, and a damage estimate was not immediately available. Putthoff said police have no suspects in the cases, which may be related.
Anyone who has information about these incidents is encouraged to call the police department, 845-2311.
