Tonganoxie Police
The Tonganoxie Police Department is seeking the public’s help with information about a black Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was reported as wrecked. The incident occurred between 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. March 9 at Shoemaker’s Auction Barn, according to Tonganoxie police Sgt. John Putthoff. He said the vehicle apparently was driven from Shoemaker’s and then the vehicle struck a metal building on the east side of Leavenworth County Road 5, just north of VFW Park. The vehicle then was returned to Shoemaker’s parking lot. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Putthoff, (913) 369-3754 or (913) 845-2311.
Hub caps, valued at $140, were reported stolen from B&B Auto Sales, 215 U.S. Highway 24-40. The theft reportedly occurred on Sunday or before 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Leavenworth County Sheriff
A resident in the 13500 block of 184th Street reported that someone knocked a mailbox from a wooden post last Sunday morning.
A vehicle driven by Michael E. O’Brien, 20, Tonganoxie, struck two deer about 10:50 p.m. March 10 on Leavenworth County Road 9, north of George Road.
A vehicle driven by Christy M. Floyd, 18, Linwood, struck another vehicle driven by Mary C. Bergstrom, 38, Bonner Springs at 158th Street and U.S. Highway 24-40. The accident occurred as Bergstrom was stopped in traffic, waiting to turn left and Floyd was trying to drive past Bergstrom’s vehicle. No one was injured in the accident, which occurred about 7:40 a.m. March 12.
A resident of the 22000 block of 168th Street reported the theft of a $1,000 necklace on Feb. 23. The theft was reported last Thursday.
Leavenworth County District Court
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. April 15 for four Leavenworth County residents charged following a drug bust at a home in the 16700 block of 182nd Street. According to David Melton, assistant county attorney, Elizabeth Wylie, 21, and Michael Pfeifer, 37, both of Linwood, have been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Michael Border, 40, and Carol Jones, 46, both of Tonganoxie, have been charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine for use as a precursor to making methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, not having a Kansas drug tax stamp and possession of marijuana, Melton said. The charges were lodged after sheriff’s officers searched the home March 9. Undersheriff Dave Zoellner said officers found two inactive methamphetamine labs at the residence, as well as $700 cash and what officers believe is methamphetamine and marijuana.
Condition reports
James L. Wiles, Linwood, who was injured when his vehicle ran off Kansas Highway 32, just east of 170th Street, on March 5, was listed in serious condition Tuesday at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Lindsey Collier, Lawrence, whose vehicle ran off Alexander Road and struck a tree March 1, was listed in fair condition Tuesday at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Miriam Carlson, 57, Leavenworth, who was involved in a two-car accident March 1 on Leavenworth County Road 5, just south of Leavenworth County Road 10, was dismissed Friday from St. John Hospital in Leavenworth.
