Student earns $5,000 scholarship
Nancy Milleret, Linwood , received this year’s Aviation Insurance Association scholarship, worth $5,000.
Milleret was chosen from 95 applicants for the award.
A Tonganoxie High graduate, Milleret is a senior at Kansas State University-Salina, majoring in airway science professional pilot with a minor in business.
She worked with Steve Fossett’s team in planning Fossett’s GlobalFlyer flight around the world and was in mission control during the flight.
She is an ambassador for K-State’s College of Technology and Aviation and works as a flight instructor for K-State at Salina.
She holds a commercial pilot certificate, CFI, CFII, and multi-engine rating.
Milleret also is actively involved in Women in Aviation International.
After college she plans to pursue a career in corporate aviation or in a fractional operation.
In order to be eligible for the award, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate aviation degree program at a University Aviation Association (UAA) member institution.
Students must have completed at least 45 college credits, 15 of which must be aviation courses. Applicants must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
