Charges were dropped last Wednesday against Zachary F. Kohl, son of Leavenworth County Attorney Frank Kohl, and against a co-defendant, Jeremy R. Schuyler.

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson said that the injured man can’t identify which person caused his injuries and that his office is pursuing additional witnesses.

Both men were arrested after a fight about 5 a.m. June 11 at Highpointe Apartments, 2001 W. Sixth St. The victim told police he was beaten and kicked by a group of men and hit on the head with a bottle after he went to the apartment to talk to his ex-girlfriend.

A third person was arrested, but a judge found in June that there was not probable cause to charge him.
