One Chieftain is stil alive at the Class 4A state wrestling tournament in Salina.
Cameron Adcox avoided elimination Friday night by pinning Eudora’s Richard Wilks in the second period. He will face Santa Fe Trail’s Charles Shively in consolation action Saturday morning at the Bicentennial Center.
Adcox, one of three Cheiftains to qualify for state, is the only one still alive. Matt Brock and Wyatt Coffin both went 0-2 Friday, thus eliminating them from the tournament.
Matt Brock fell to Anderson County’s Izaak Winter, 11-7, in his 130-pound opener, then fell to Pratt’s Eric Kocher by pin in his consolation match.
Fort Scott’s Dakota Hall pinned Coffin in the first round. Coffin then lost in a consolation match by technical fall, 19-2, to Douglass’ Clay Shaft.
