THS football loses final home game

By Eric Sorrentino - | Oct 19, 2007

The Tonganoxie football team had trouble stopping Drew Rivers and his 220 passing yards and three touchdowns in THS’ 42-20 loss against Atchison Friday night at Beatty Field.

Junior Andre Davis also had a massive night for Atchison. The wide receiver caught five passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He also torched the THS special teams unit on a 61-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Atchison jumped out to a 21-0 lead, but Tonganoxie cut the deficit to seven by halftime, courtesy of touchdown runs by freshman quarterback Jeremy Carlisle and senior running back Kevin Gill.

Atchison (3-5) shut down Tonganoxie in the second half. Carlisle was effective rushing the ball, carrying 16 times for 104 yards. However, the Chieftains couldn’t get anything going in the air. Carlisle was 1-of-8 for five yards and two interceptions.

Tonganoxie (1-7) will travel to Jefferson West Thursday for its final game of the season.
