Mayor-elect has second thoughts

By Estuardo Garcia - | Apr 17, 2009

The head of the Linwood city government may still not be decided.

On Friday, Linwood Mayor-elect Ed Morris said he was having second thoughts about taking the city’s top seat.

He initially accepted the position, but after looking into the state of the city he said he wasn’t sure if the town would be able to survive it its current condition.

“It’s an uphill battle and I’m not sure if it’s something that I want to get into” he said.

Morris will make his decision over the weekend and decide before Tuesday’s Linwood City Council meeting.

Morris won the seat after receiving seven out of 24 write-in votes. Nobody filed for the position.

If Morris decides not to take the position Arline Pritchard would be next in line to become mayor. Pritchard received four write-in votes.
