By Beverly Muzzy - | Aug 12, 2009

An informational meeting on dementias will take place 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of McLouth. This Senior Adult Ministry discussion will include a brief overview of dementias and Alzheimer’s disease; the early signs, possible treatments, help for caregivers and the disease process. This meeting is open to the public.

• Wayne Simien, former KU and NBA basketball player, is coming to McLouth. He is the founder of “Called To Greatness,” a sports ministry organization for children and teens, and will be the guest speaker at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at McLouth High School Auditorium. C.O.R.E. (Community Oriented Reverence and Evangelism) is a Christian contemporary ministry designed for young Christians in high school and young adults. All ages are invited to hear Simien’s testimony, enjoy the live praise and worship band, special speakers, fellowship, refreshments and fun.

• McLouth Parents Teachers Organization will sponsor the Welcome Back to School Picnic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20. All students and their families are invited. Attend the open house for middle school and high school.
