Roads OK but travelers advised to use caution
Road conditions in the Kansas City metro area – including Leavenworth, Johnson and Wyandotte counties – are holding steady at wet with no ice or slush, KDOT reports. But public affairs manager Kimberly Qualls still advises travelers in that area to use caution when driving.
“Currently it still isn’t freezing,” Qualls said. “It could go that it could be snow, or there could be some rain or it could get icy.”
Qualls added that if road conditions change for the worse, bridges and overpasses will be the first places to get slick.
Snow is still expected to fall after 1 p.m. today and snow and sleet accumulation could reach 1 to 3 inches. Thunder and blowing snow are possible, with wind gusts reaching as high as 34 miles per hour. The temperature high will be near 34.
Expect more blustery conditions tonight with a chance for snowfall before 1 a.m. A north-northwest wind could reach 20 to 23 miles per hour and will gradually decrease throughout the night. The high for wind gusts is 32 miles per hour. The temperature low is 25.
