McLouth Happenings
Thursday, May 2, is National Day of Prayer. This annual observance encourages people of all faiths to humbly pray for our nation, seeking God’s guidance for our leaders and his grace upon us as a people.
• Jefferson County Historical Society at Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa is the official repository of Jefferson County records, the Jefferson County Genealogical Society and research activities. Historical structures from around the county, including a blacksmith shop, jail, general store, chapel, school house, Victorian home and the John Steuart Curry boyhood home and museum have been moved onto the 10-acre park. Many events are planned throughout the calendar year. Old Jefferson Town is located one block South of the Highway 59-92 junction in Oskaloosa. It will be open weekend afternoons May through September.
• The Annual McLouth Rural School Reunion will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the McLouth Community Center, which is on Union Street behind the library. Please use the rear entrance. Everyone who attended a one-room schoolhouse is encouraged to attend and reminisce. Your families are welcome. Display your photos and scrapbooks and share your memories. Please bring a covered dish to share and table service for your family. Coffee and iced tea will be furnished. For more information, contact Bob and Alfreda Ryan at 913-796-6525.
