Wichita bicyclists attempt to break world record
Wichita ? It’ll be a few weeks before the hundreds of bicyclists who showed up at Wichita’s Riverfest know if they’ve broken a world record for riding in the longest single-file line.
Festival officials say they won’t know for a day or two how many people took part Saturday because they still had to count the number of signed waivers.
The Wichita Eagle reports the goal was to get 1,200 bikers to ride in a big loop, starting and ending at the city’s WaterWalk, to break the current Guinness World Record of 1,148.
Festival spokeswoman Ann Keefer says if it looks like there were enough riders to break the record, it will take Guinness several weeks to verify the numbers.
