Someone recently donated a giant stuffed teddy bear to the library.

The bear is residing in the children’s section of the library, but it currently has no name.

Library officials are asking for name ideas for the inviting bear.

Patrons can submit a maximum of two entries per person through the end of the year. All entries must be received by Jan. 1, with the winner being chosen and notified by Jan. 15.

The winner will receive a miniature plush bear.

Adult bingo is Monday

The next library adult bingo day is Monday at the community room.

The games are open to adults and are played from 1-3 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month at the library, Third and Bury streets.

If patrons miss Monday’s games, they can visit Dec. 21 for the final games of 2015.

Library closed for holidays

Tonganoxie Public Library will have reduced hours of operation with the holidays.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, the library will be closed. And staff will close the library’s doors early at 4 p.m. Dec. 31 because of New Year’s Eve. It also will be closed New Year’s Day.

Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Community room available at library

The library’s community room is available for non-profit group meetings.

No admission may be charged by groups meeting in the room, and all meetings must be open to the public during library operating hours. A $20 fee is charged for personal events such as birthday parties, baby showers and the like and must take place during library operating hours only.

Any group using the community room is expected to conduct its proceedings in a quiet, orderly manner and to set up and take down tables and chairs as needed. Trash must be placed in receptacles and the room left clean.

Tobacco use and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on library premises.
