By Shawn Linenberger - | Jul 22, 2015

Name: Steve Christensen.

Born: McPherson.

Family: Wife, Lisa; twin sons Matthew and Michael, both 21.

Occupation: Banker with First State Bank and Trust. Christensen has been in that line of work for 31 years.

Interesting fact: Christensen loves Kansas State University football even though he didn’t graduate from there. However, he does have the connection of one of his sons being a student at KSU.

Dream job: Airline pilot.

Digging deeper: Christensen graduated high school from McPherson in 1978 and then graduated from McPherson College in January 1984.

McPherson Bank and Trust hired him right out of college.

Through the years, Christensen has moved three times because of career advancement. He was a bank president for six years in Oklahoma before deciding to move back to Kansas to be closer to family.

“I consider myself to be very blessed to have found First State Bank and Tonganoxie,” Christensen said. “It has been a wonderful place for Lisa and I to raise our boys.”

Christensen has now been at First State Bank for 11 years. He said his co-workers are some of the best people he’s had the privilege of working with.

Christensen has several hobbies. He likes to play golf and loves sports in general.

His favorite sport is football and he enjoys watching Royals baseball, Kansas University basketball and K-State football.

He said he also enjoys any activity that involves his family.

In his spare time, Christensen also likes volunteering. He’s president of the Tonganoxie Chamber of Commerce, which recently moved into a space at Reece and Nichols Premier Realty at Third Street and U.S. Highway 24-40.

Christensen also is a board member for the Leavenworth County Development Corporation and is a member of Tonganoxie United Methodist Church.
