The National Agricultural Statistics Service reported Tuesday that about 34 percent of the wheat has already emerged.

Harvest of fall crops also is making progress in the state.

An estimated 76 percent of the corn has been harvested, well ahead of the 68 percent average for this time of year.

About 37 percent of the sorghum and 31 percent of the soybeans also have been cut. Sunflower harvest has now begun in Kansas with 5 percent harvested.

Fourth cutting of alfalfa is 90 percent finished.
