The event hosted eight schools from northeast Kansas.

In the open division, seniors Spencer Finkbiner and Dawson Jones finished in third place with a 4-1 record. Seniors Emma DeMaranville and Josh Lingo also finished 4-1 and placed fourth. Other debaters in the open division included sophomores Ethan Sandburg, Sierra Staatz, Dylan Tavis and Alan Hinds.

In the novice division, freshmen Arhen Gann and Adam DeMaranville finished 4-1 and earned an honorable mention. Other novices included freshmen Xander Stowe, Blake Phillips, Madisen Lansing, Alex Tucker, Sofia Romero and Jasmine Sejnoha.

Tonganoxie had several debaters earn impressive speaker totals in the novice division.

Tonganoxie finished second to Shawnee Mission Northwest in team sweepstakes, while Mill Valley finished third.

This weekend the team will have members competing at meets in Independence, Kan., Emporia and Gardner-Edgerton.
