Voters decide primaries, fate of proposed constitutional amendment on abortion
Kansas voters decided local and statewide primary races, along with the constitutional amendment question involving abortion rights.
Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, which was after The Mirror’s print deadline. Though results weren’t available at press time, results will be posted at tonganoxiemirror.com and published in the Aug. 10 print edition.
Leavenworth County has more than 40 polling sites, with four of them in Tonganoxie. Voters in the Tonganoxie north area voted at Tonganoxie VFW Hall, while Tonganoxie south area voters went to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Stranger Township had a polling site at West Haven Baptist Church next door to Sacred Heart. And Tonganoxie rural voters were assigned to the Administration Building at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.
Voter registration opens back up today at the Leavenworth County Courthouse. It will be open until Oct. 18, when registration closes for the general election.
Advance voting by mail and advance voting in person starts Oct. 19, with advance voting set to end at noon Nov. 7. Election Day for the general election is Nov. 8.
