Dalton Morris, Odessa, Mo., entertains the crowd while preoccupying a bull during a recent rodeo. Morris will work as the rodeo clown and trick roper at the 2019 Shrine Rodeo on Sept. 26-27 at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

Evening events Thursday and Friday at the Leavenworth County Fair will have later starts due to anticipated extreme heat.

Fair association members made the announcement Wednesday, per a Facebook post.

Gates will open at 7 p.m. each night, with the rodeo and mutton busting to start at 8 p.m. each night.

“We feel this change is necessary for both the contestants and animal, as well as the spectators,” the post said.

The Tonganoxie area is in a heat advisory until 9 p.m. Thursday. Temperatures are supposed to reach 98 degrees Thursday afternoon and 101 degrees Friday afternoon, according to weather.com.
