Lansing Correctional Facility resident who escaped Sunday apprehended Monday
A minimum-custody resident at Lansing Correctional Facility has been apprehended.
Bradley G. Verstraete was taken into custody Monday morning by Lansing Police Department officials.
He was arrested without incident.
Verstraete, who is serving a sentence of roughly 8.5 years for second-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, walked away from the minimum-security unit Sunday night. He was placed on escape status at 9 p.m. Sunday, according to a release from the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Verstraete, 54, was reported missing when he could not be located at the unit.
Verstraete’s 102-month sentence stems from events in 2017 that occurred in Pratt County.
KDOC officials did not specify an exact time when Verstraete was apprehended, but a release Monday noted that he was arrested less than 12 hours after escaping.
No other details are being released as the investigation is ongoing.
