Tonganoxie USD 464 Board Room at the Administrative Center.

Tonganoxie USD 464 board members selected Kansas Association of School Boards as its superintendent search firm at Monday’s regular meeting.

Board members approved KASB’s low bid by a 7-0 vote. The board also considered bids from Ray and Associates and Grundmeyer Leader Services. The process comes after current Superintendent Loren Feldkamp’s recent announcement that he would be retiring at the end of the current school year this coming June.

Network subscription renewal approved

Board members approved, 7-0, renewal of the district’s Cisco Meraki network subscription for $39,362.

The renewal supports more than 300 pieces of networking infrastructure that serve the district. The subscription provides cloud-based management for all devices, Cisco networking support and warranty replacement for all covered equipment.

Four vendors submitted bids for this renewal, with CDW-G submitting the lowest responsible bid. The purchase is part of the district’s regular licensing renewal schedule and has already been budgeted for the 2025-26 school year.

The school board approved personnel recommendations at Monday’s meeting.

Contract/work agreements were approved for Cherry Mastro, Tonganoxie High School student nutrition; Jessica Sawartzky, Tonganoxie Elementary School special education paraprofessional; Cortney Hunter, Valerie Robare and Isabella Andrews-Pryor, TES paraprofessional; Kenneth Fisher, THS custodian; and Kacie Odell, THS paraprofessional.

Giving The Basics also will be giving donations to the district. Giving the Basics is a Kansas City, Kansas-based nonprofit that has partnered with the state of Kansas.

The nonprofit provides Kansas students with essential hygiene products, such as soap, shampoo, and deodorant. By participating in this program, the district will receive monthly deliveries, at no cost, to ensure students have basic hygiene essentials. School nurses and counselors will work together to ensure that students in need receive these items in a discreet, private setting.
