Tonganoxie City Council Chambers are moving to the former public library at Third and Bury streets. In-person meetings also available for viewing on a city YouTube Channel could start with the Jan. 19 regular meeting.

Several residents spoke during open agenda about their continued concerns about a potential mega data center south of Tonganoxie.

Residents cited potential health and environmental concerns associated with the centers nationally, per various studies.

The proposed facility, known as Project Bluestem, a Cloverleaf Infrastructure project, would be built on the Tailgate Ranch area near Interstate-70.

Representatives from Project Bluestem offered an open house June 9 at 304 Venue in Tonganoxie to answer questions and concerns from residents.

Representtatives with the company contend that the project will provide a long-term investment, tax revenues, job creation and community commitment. They also had stations at the open house explaining updated practices that mitigate some of the high-water and energy usage of previous data centers.
