The levy will increase from 2.55 mills to 3.55 mills. This will also help with continued maintenance and improvements of the Tonganoxie Recreation Park. Two years ago the levy was also increased by one mill.

A mill is $1 in taxes for every $1,000 of assessed property valuation.

The recreation commission would like to hire a full-time maintenance person.

In other business, the board agreed to host the KASB Regional Meeting Oct. 5.

“It will be a nice way to showcase our school to the district,” Richard Erickson, superintendent said.

This visit will allow regional board members to learn of programs that the school offers.

Following a closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Lynn Heskett, bus driver, and the retirements of Paula Carlson, Tonganoxie High School library paraprofessional, and Vickie Cackler, high school English and social science teacher.
