Rain extinguishes hopes for bonfire

By Shawn Linenberger - | Sep 3, 2008

A bonfire that was planned for 8:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 3 as part of homecoming activities was canceled because of muddy conditions.

A story in the print edition of The Mirror said the bonfire was scheduled for 6:30 p.m., but it’s actually 8:30 p.m.

Although the bonfire was canceled, other homecoming activities continue. Students and teachers will have dress-up days through Friday at the high school as part of spirit week. In addition, a parade will be held at 2 p.m. Friday through downtown Tonganoxie. Crowning of the homecoming king and queen will be held before the football game Friday at Beatty Field. THS and Prairie View will have kickoff of their game at 7 p.m. The festivities conclude with Saturday’s dance in the high school’s west campus commons area.
