Aunt Norie’s Sewing Room

By Eleanor Mckee - | Oct 16, 2012

Isn’t it about time to just treat yourself, go shopping or, better yet, just browsing? Go down the gadget rows in your favorite fabric shop, maybe. They have a self-threading needle now. I haven’t actually seen one, but I did see a picture of one and it looks rather cumbersome. This was in one of those little catalogs we get in the mail.

There are new things all the time, like the little loop to push through from the inside that catches and pulls that nasty snag on your sweater sleeve to the wrong side and out of sight. However, for that one, you can actually do the same thing with your crochet hook.

On one such trip, years and years ago, I found a thing called a “Jean-A-Ma-Jig.” It’s one of the best little tools I think I ever found. It helps you sew over those thick seams when shortening jeans. It lifts the presser foot, in the slickest way, up and over those thick, heavy seams.

There are so many time savers on the shelves now. So many times, we dart in for one or two items and we seem to always be in a hurry.

I’m going out to sit in the sun now.
