Tonganoxie High debate wins Paola meet, team’s 2nd of season

Tonganoxie High debate team members celebrate a meet title for the second consecutive weekend Saturday at the Duane Lintz Memorial Invitational at Paola.The Tonganoxie High School debate team won its second tournament in as many attempts Saturday when the team won sweepstakes this past weekend at Paola’s Duane Lintz Memorial Invitational.
The open team of Cayden Hunter and James Scott finished in sixth place, while the open team of Rowin Pruitt and Joshua Duvall won the novice division with an undefeated record.
Also in the novice division Ella Pruitt and Kayleigh Williamson placed sixth. Other team members who competed were AJ Washington, Eric Beiser, Gage Slabaugh, Makayla Smith, Katelyn Dunn, Anna Tochtrop, Charlotte Absher, Caleb Hodges, Carson Heffel and Thatcher Page.
The team finished with 16-4 record for the sweepstakes win.
Tonganoxie will be on the road again this weekend.
THS will be traveling to competitions at Coffeyville and Eudora.
