Accident near Tonganoxie on Monday involves local residents
A two-vehicle accident that occurred Monday near Tonganoxie sent a local driver to the hospital.
Tucker Conrad, 32, Tonganoxie, was driving a 2014 3500 four-door Ram truck and headed east on Parallel Road and stopped at the stop sign at Tonganoxie Road, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Lena Zahorik, 41, Tonganoxie, was driving a 2010 Buick Enclave on Tonganoxie Road when Conrad entered the intersection and his truck struck Zahorik’s vehicle. Lena Zahorik and a passenger, Christopher Zahorik, 13, were taken to Providence Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt, reports said.
Nov. 24 accident
A two-vehicle accident Nov. 24 near Honey Creek Road sent a driver and passengers to local hospitals with suspected minor injuries, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.
Ashley N. Thunder, 34, Riverton, Wyoming, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu around 11:40 p.m. Nov. 24. She was headed west on Honey Creek Road at U.S. Highway 24-40 as Michael Owen Robbins, 17, Tonganoxie, was driving a 2013 BMW car south on U.S. 24-40 when Thunder failed to stop at the stop sign and struck Robbins’ vehicle on the left front and rear doors.
There also were three passengers in the Malibu: David W. Foster, 34, Paola, Bethany L. Brown, 34, Lawrence, and Coryon J. Green, 29, Topeka.
Thunder and Foster were taken to University of Kansas hospital, while Green was taken to Providence Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.
Robbins was wearing a safety restraint, while it was unknown whether those in the Malibu were wearing seat belts, reports said.
Crash on I-70 sends Topekans to hospital
A two-vehicle accident Nov. 29 on Interstate-70 at mile marker 213.9 in Leavenworth County sent a woman and two children to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries.
The wreck occurred at 10:06 a.m. Nov. 29. Sincere Harris, 23, Topeka, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze east on I-70 in the left lane when she lost control and struck the barrier wall before re-entering the eastbound lanes and striking a 2020 Freightliner tractor driven by Camron Emmanuel, 49, Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the eastbound right lane, according to Kansas Highway Patrol reports.
Harris, as well as passengers Core’shawn Bushnell, 4, Topeka, and Jha’cari Bushnell, 2, Topeka, were taken to University of Kansas hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Another passenger, Carnell Bushnell, 22, Topeka, had no apparent injuries, nor did Emmanuel.
All were wearing seatbelts, reports said.
Wreck involves semi
Two vehicles were headed east on Interstate-70 at mile marker 212.9 in Leavenworth County on Nov. 29 when they slowed down for a hazard ahead and one vehicle struck the other.
The wreck took place at 11:23 a.m. Nov. 29.
The first vehicle, a 2014 GMC Acadia, was driven by Brett Chadwick Matlock, 51, Topeka. A second vehicle, a 2023 Freightliner semi truck, was driven by Rocco Louis Digiora, 62, Appomattox, Virginia. Matlock’s Acadia struck the freight liner from behind.
Brett Matlock was taken to University of Kansas hospital for suspected minor injuries. A passenger, Jada Matlock, 10, was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital for suspected serious injury, according to Kansas Highway Patrol reports.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt, reports said.
