The Tonganoxie City Council approved funding for the structure during Monday’s regular meeting by an unanimous 5-0 vote.
The stage, which is being purchased from Poligon Park Architecture, will be a Kokomo Amphitheater structure and measure 20-feet by 16-feet and have a clearance of 12 feet high. The cost is not to exceed $48,895.
$19,331 will come from the Gallagher Park Fund, with the rest to come from the city’s special parks fund and capital parks fund.
City crews will pour the base of the stage and the structure will be built on the east edge of the park.
The park has been the site for various concerts, festivals and other events. Tents and temporary stages have been brought in during past events, but the permanent stage will provide a space for those attractions without bringing in temporary structures.
Monday’s meeting took place via Zoom due to Monday’s inclement weather.
