A Leavenworth County jury found 51-year-old Kimberly S. Logan of Leavenworth guilty of interference with law enforcement following a one-day trial.

Logan was found guilty Monday in Leavenworth County District Court, according to a release from the office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson.

According to court documents, Logan was inside a residence Feb. 19 when Leavenworth County deputies arrived to execute a search warrant. Deputies were attempting to locate a man who had an active Leavenworth County felony warrant.

At one of the home’s entrances, a deputy contacted Logan. Logan told deputies the man they were looking for was not inside the home.

While deputies maintained a perimeter around the residence, the man they were seeking exited the home. Logan was then taken into custody and later charged with interference with law enforcement.

“Being truthful and cooperating with law enforcement when officers are carrying out their duties is important,” Thompson said. “People should understand that lying to law enforcement can have serious consequences, including being convicted of a crime.”

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 23.
