Community forum on data center tonight in Tonganoxie; capacity is 750 with only 200 chairs available
Leavenworth County Commission members will be meeting today to listen to residents’ concerns regarding the proposed Project Bluestem hyper scale data center south of Tonganoxie. Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Administration Building at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, 405 W. Fourth St. in Tonganoxie. The fairgrounds will open up 45 minutes before the 6 p.m. meeting begins, according to a post on the county's social media page. There will only be 200 chairs available. Capacity has been set at 750, so beyond the 200 chairs will be standing room. Commissioner Mike Stieben, who represents the Fifth District (which includes Tonganoxie), proposed that the meeting last until 9 p.m. Fellow commissioners approved the motion at a recent meeting in Leavenworth.
