The Kansas Plowboys 10-and-younger AA competitive baseball team has been on an roll in the last month, proving why they are ranked No. 1 in Kansas and 30th in the nation. They are 9-0 and 13-1 in their last 14 games sweeping both the Missouri State AA Classic and The Negro Museum Hall of Fame Slugfest.

Tonganoxie school Superintendent Richard Erickson was pleased that the Kansas Supreme Court has ordered the state to double the funding for public schools. “We’re excited about it,” Erickson said Monday. “I believe this is a victory for our students.”

For many of the “working poor” — and according to data provided by Harvesters-The Community Food Network, for a startling number of America’s “middle class” — this need is met when their children are fed at school. However, this safety net is removed during the summer months, leaving far too many of society’s most vulnerable hungry.
